Posted by hard money lender on July 13, 2008 at 11:05 AM In Reply to: I'm a registered Republican... posted by CC in OC on July 13, 2008 at 10:07 AM okay. i wasnt really arguing about whether we needed to clean up our own mess or not. i simply get irritated that the mess started in the first place. i get irritated that the people who benefitted from the mess are not the ones cleaning it up. it used to be, from a philosophical standpoint, that the difference between liberal and conservative was in the degree of govt desired. if we use that definition, i am not sure that any political group has ever been conservative. few people vote themselves out of a job. there is one political system, run by the mega wealthy. both democrats and republicans are part of that system, and have to tow the line, if they want to remain so. it is one thing about what politicians say. quite another about what they do. if i recall, this administration has spent more money than any other one in the past. if we dont want to become a stagnant socialist country, we had better get rid of most of our govt, and fast.
