Forclosure notices

Posted by Carol on July 09, 2001 at 6:05 AM

I live in NY state we were renting w/option to purchase a house, the landlord was in foreclosure, which we knew. My question is this...when the referee Atty and the forclosure Attys put the public notice in the newspaper, our names were listed immediatly after the landlords. I was told this is the "law" but I can't seem to understand that. We did not own the house yet, and it's downright embarassing to have to keep explaining this to people. Is this in fact a law, and if so, who do I write to change it? Please email me @ SeaWitch1313@aol.com
thank you
