Re: trustee sale locationsIn Reply to: trustee sale locations posted by jeff on August 07, 2006 at 4:46 PM Jeff, California Civil Code §2924 provides that the trustee's sale of a property in foreclosure must be held in the county where the property is located, at a place accessible to the public. For their own convenience, most trustees choose to delegate the actual task of auctioning off their foreclosures to an outside servicer such as ASAP or California Posting & Publishing, etc. For the sake of efficiency, those companies aggregate the sales of several trustees together and hold them at their local, county office if they have one. But lacking an office in the county, they'll hold their sales at the main entrance of any conveniently located, public building. So that might be a city hall, county administrative office, courthouse, etc. And the trustee sales that take place out on the front steps of such buildings are not coordinated with nor conducted under the auspices of any officials that oversee the operation of those locations either. To know the details of the trustee sale of a particular property in foreclosure, you are best advised to read the Notice of Trustee's Sale pertaining to that property. Most of us subscribe to a county-wide foreclosure notice service and they will include that info for each sale they're reporting. Then when it's close to the sale date we will call the referenced trustee's sale line and verify the location and time of the scheduled sale.
