Should I buy the Sheriffs certificate

Posted by Jon on April 23, 2002 at 2:27 AM

I'm questioning whether to go to the sheriffs sale and bid on a certificate for a house in Minnesota that I'm very interested in. The reason I'm going this route is it's impossible to contact the owner. She is hiding somewhere and comes back very discretely to collect mail or whatever. I even knocked on the door when she was there but no answer.

I'm aware of the fact that she can sell the house anytime during redemption, declare BK or even trash the house. So far the title is clear except for the one mortgage in default. I'll probably doa name search to look for other liens or problems.

Should I buy the certificate?
