: : My forclosure sale date was 2/26. I tried to push through a workout package before the sale but it did not work and Countrywide could not give me a reason for not accepting the package. I have found a house to rent but it will not be availabe until 5/1. How much time do I have to stay in the property? Will I get a notice of eviction, or will they just padlock my doors before I can get my belongings out? Please help , stressed on what to do or how to handle this. I have started moving things to a storage unit but would like to know a final or last day... It would be nice if my family could stay here as long as possible, but I know we are on barrowed time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

: Mark, almost all states nowadays require a written notice to vacate to be served on the holdover owner in a foreclosure action. Such a notice will delineate the amount of time you have before you’re subject to a physical eviction and it usually amounts to 15 to 30 days.

: But read your notice to vacate carefully when it comes and then move out before you’re forcibly evicted.

Ward, how do you usually get a notice? Is it sent certified mail, regular mail, or hand delivered? I contacted Countrywide and they said they sent a notice (but didn't explain what type of notice) nor could they tell me what it said. Only that it was effective immediately, and I still have not receieved anything from any party.
thanks Mark
