: We purchased a foreclosed home in Michigan on August 17, 2001. The previous owners were still living there at the time. As of September 29, 2001 the utilities were shut off and the previous owners moved. They still have personal property in the home/garage areas. The previous owners believe they still have home owners rights. Do they? Even after they have vacated the property? When do I have the right to change the locks and remove their personal properties? Basically, when do their rights of ownership end?
Randy,
Was this the first foreclosure property you purchased?? Michigan has a six month redemption period as Ward mentioned. If you are a serious investor please contact me at sfoundation@altavista.com. I would be very interested in sharing and receiving some lessons learned.
