Eugene, I concur with Ellis that there are two outfits that will act as your custodian for you self directed IRA for real estate. And here is the URL (http://www.entrustadmin.com). for the Entrust organization. Contact both outfits and make your comparison.

I do think you're going to have a practical problem using an IRA to buy foreclosures at the auction arena that's so fraught with postponements and uncertainty. You will probably have to acquire such property with an entity like a title holding trust and then resell it to your IRA.
