In Reply to: submitted financial packet to mortager to ask for a deed-in-lieu.now what? posted by teahcer in MS on October 25, 2001 at 8:54 AM

: Made a post in the past asking about a deed-in-lieu.
: We have submitted a financial packet to our mortgager(bank)
: and they said they will give us an answere on whether we can do the deed in lieu in the next five business days. They said that if we are "approved" to do that or they let us do that, then they will discuss the process with us. What is the process?? they won't seem to give us any information on what comes next. The reason being we have found a nice rental house in a very nice neighborhood within our budget and we don't won't to lose it.
: The guy said we could move in after the 6th of November and I don't know can we move out of our home if we are "approved" in five days or do we have to stay in the house until the "process"(whatever that is) is finished?
: Any answers???

Timing your move to another house is your call. You’re going to have to make the move sometime since you won’t be able to keep your present home if you don’t keep making the payments on it.

The “process” of doing a deed-in-lieu with you lender will amount to you signing the deed over to the lender, probably along with an Estoppel Affidavit and an agreement to move out quickly, leaving the premises in a broom clean condition.
