: I too have the same problem. A property that I was going to buy at Sheriff sale was pulled because the owner file bankruptcy. Is there any out there who share some insight as to what to do when this or the problem that Jason has?

I am an investor in forecloser properties and I actually have advised
people to file bankruptcy so they could keep their home.
If I did not advise this I would feel I
was not being honest in trying to help the homeowner in exploring
all their options. Of course, people don't want to lose their homes and I
would rather see them work their problems out and keep it if
possible. This doesn't help you as an investor of course, but it's
all depends on how bad you want to profit from their situation.
It is usually 2 years after the date of discharge before they
can purchase another home, assuming they established
some kind of decent credit since then.
