Re: Making purchases Ward?In Reply to: Making purchases Ward? posted by Alfred, CA, Trainee on June 13, 2002 at 2:25 PM I watched the auctions in OC just for the amusement of it. You can tell that some of the bidders like Moe and Greg like to just toss out big numbers to run the bids up, and frustrate other people. (I.e. the bidding is going up by hundreds, and Greg will stop talking into his cell phone briefly, just to up it by $10K and say "I gotta get in here somewhere!" with a grin on his face...) It's almost like a poker game between neighbors. But with hundreds of thousands of dollars rolling around! I'm guessing you might have better luck at the "other" auctions that take place at the city halls in OC. The central courthouse draws a lot of buzzards, since the most bait is there... Myself, I'm thinking about learning some home repair skills. Buy a HUD house, fix it up, sell it off in 2 years. Maybe by then the market will be a little more rational and I won't have to fight my way to the feeding trough at the courthouse.
