I need help on how to get realtor license what school is available fast??

: : Hello!

: : I have just recently decided to begin on the path to financial independence, and would like to do it through real estate investments. I eventually would like to own multi-units, but assume I need to work my way up both financially and in experience. I currently have no knowledge of the real estate business, and have a couple specific questions.

: : 1. Would buying and selling (or renting) foreclosures be a good way to build experience that could apply to owning multi-units; and to building the cash/equity needed for larger properties?

: : 2. Would you recommend obtaining a Realtor's license?

: : These are just a couple of the many questions I have, and I am seriously considering your one-on-one training. This is very new and exciting to me. I am tired of being a slave to my job. (Just finished reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"!) :-)

: : Thank you!!

: Tony, I used to be a real estate licensee, from ‘72 to ‘82. I made a good commission income, but I wasn’t the one getting rich, it was my clients who really profited. So after 10 years I simply let my license go by purposely not renewing it.

: I decided to work for myself and buy and sell properties for my own account. Along the way I decided to embark on a 15 year plan to acquire a small number (15 or so) of keepers for my retirement. My plan has worked out just fine (see link below).

: I’m not terribly excited about owning multiple units because it’s too much like work!! And I’m conservative enough to notice that single family homes seem to escape most rent control programs whereas multiple units don’t. It’s my opinion that rents are going up so much that we will have such intervention in an attempt to level the playing field. That would be a direct threat to my retirement plans.

: I don’t see the need for a real estate license when you can list your properties through a “flat fee” broker for $200-250 to get them exposure in the local multiple listing service (MLS).

: I have some reservations about the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” book. I don’t think he gave his real father much credit and he pooh poohed getting a good education too much.
