: : I'm sure I am asking for trade secrets but I live buy the following: The key to successful Real Estate investment isn't so much the amount of data available to you, it's the accumulated knowledge and application of techniques that allows you to recognize, indentify and profit from the opportunities presented to you. (Does this look familiar?) HA HA I have found my mentor.. In our city in CA our records office is old school.. everything is on FISH..Going fishing is exausting..Im am getting faster but any tips would be helpful...Thanks again KIM There is also www.titlesearch.com $199 anybody bought this?

: =•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=

: Well Kim, I guess your mentor is NJdave, for he posted that remark on April 08, 2001 in reply to Marie Brown’s post titled, “finding foreclosesures and tax lien proprtey” (on trel’s Foreclosure Talk board, message #8422).

: The word “fiche” is short for microfiche card, a photographic compression technique perfected in the late 30’s in France and used widely in WWII. The more modern variant is the microfilm roll. The current upstart compression champion is the CDROM. In the last two years most companies like DataQuick, Experian, Damar, MetroScan, etc. have abandoned the microfiche format and gone exclusively with CDROM technology.

: The fiche property information service used to cost me $400 per year, whereas the new CDROM format now costs me $1,200 per year. Can you explain why it now costs me three times more, for something that can be mailed in an envelope, instead of a shoebox?? It doesn’t make any sense to me at all. It should be getting cheaper rather than 3 times more expensive, right? Go figure.

: As far as researching the title record is concerned, all you really need to figure out is at what point have you gone back in the title record far enough to be sure there are no pre-existing senior liens still in force. From that point in time, where you’re certain the proprety is free and clear, you come forward in time to check out what has recorded since.

: I know nothing of titlesearch.com so I perused it quickly. I didn’t see anything concerning $199 and it looked like the site was for the use of title companies rather than individuals.
