I want to let the house go

Posted by Melanie on June 27, 2001 at 4:43 PM

I bought a house in 91 for 47K. I still owe 40K. I do not live in the house and cannot sell it for even close to what's owed. The house is in great disrepair and I cannot afford to fix it up, nor do I really want to. What exactly will happen if I let it go to foreclosure? Can the lender come after my pay? I have an FHA loan and I believe I was required to purchase mortgage insurance when I bought it.
