: Ok, now that we have lost our home and we are still in bankrupcty, will we ever be able to buy another home?? And if so how?? Being in GA with bad credit is like living in a third world country. =•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•=•= Beth, yes you too will get back on your feet and your credit debacle will pass. Time does heal most wounds, especially these kind of problems and you will be able to buy another home. For your information, a bankruptcy can remain on your credit report no longer than 10 years under provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If you are in a chapter 13 bankruptcy and it is successfully completed, the credit reporting industry retains the information for only seven years rather than the ten years allowed by law. To sum it up, there are certain behavioral changes that creditors want to see evidenced by you regarding your approach to maintaining a good credit standing prior to granting you renewed access to credit in the months and years after your bankruptcy has been closed. Ask your bankruptcy attorney or credit clinic for any publications concerning the topic of credit repair and also check the web for such sites as www.loanproblems.com Good luck.
