Cliff's NotesIn Reply to: real estate agents knowledge posted by jgibson on August 17, 2010 at 4:58 AM Bad idea. Very bad. If they were a Cliff’s Notes for this business instead of a realtor studying and learning, why shouldn’t you. There’s no shortcut in this business or any other business. If you work through an agent, most if not all of your deals will be retail plus you’ve added considerable unnecessary overhead. That’s enough to put you under water on almost every deal. You make money buying wholesale and selling retail. You need to learn all the aspects of the business, that you mention and then some that you’re unsure of now. Finding an one agent with expertise in all of the specialities you need to know would be impossible. Superficial knowledge here and there yes, expertise in most or all areas no. If you work and study really hard for years and years you’ll know more than any agent, and develop a sixth sense regarding potential deals both good and more importantly bad. Anyone that suggests otherwise is an agent/broker.
