Lienholders can bring taxes current. There may have been escrowed amounts from the borrower that were used to pay the last year or two. : A home in our neighborhood has gone into foreclosure twice and the property owner has filed for bankruptcy. The house has been abandoned for awhile but the property is still in his name (I guess b/c the bank cannot do anything while he is in bankruptcy?) : Property taxes are paid and current but the mortgage has not been paid for 2 1/2 years. Why would a homeowner pay the property taxes but not the mortgage?
