: As of May 10, 2010 I have known a few lenders who will NOT lend on a property once an illegal addition surfaces...Further, it is fraud to include "non permitted" square footage in an apprasial. The rules of the game have changed as far as lenders are concerned....My work load has increased because credit/mortgages/apprasials are being looked at harder these days. IF your buying one, beware...if you're selling one disclose, but if you can make it legal and get the square footage for the sale... do so. Thanks for the info./warning! Follow Ups: Post a Followup:
