There is a key issue here that one neighbor is paying $1000/year in taxes and the other neighbor with an exact matching house is paying $3000/year in taxes. Yet, they are both using the same services and have equal demand on the property tax revenue. A very tricky issue. : Geri Do you really think CAs economy will be benefited by hundreds of thousands of seniors getting kicked out of their houses because they can't pay property taxes and survive on Social Security? There is a reason why Prop 13 came about. I'm sure Ward wouldn't have been too happy either if they started charging him the inflated value property taxes on his dingbats. At the end of 2005 his dingbats could have gotten appraised for $500K each X 20 X .0125 = $125,000 a year.
