[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ The Forum Board ] [ FAQ ] has there ever been a bogus trustee sale? Posted by Lorna on March 02, 2010 at 8:06 PM I am planning on purchasing a 2nd in Ca. I spent all day at the recorder's office on this one deal. What is making me doubt my research is the shadiness of the 2nd. Private Lender, unheard of trustee, auction at an odd location and hour. All documents related to 2nd looked unprofessional. I researched trustee's property record too and it was worse than the foreclosures I have been viewing. I'm trying to anticipate anything that may go wrong. At the risk of appearing paranoid- I have a fear of showing up to a bogus trustee sale and handing over a signed cashiers check to some thief. Property riddled with involuntary liens, judgments and Fed Tax liens, homeowner not an outstanding citizen. I don't mind being told I'm crazy on this one, just don't want to be called a fool later.
