: Can one run into difficulties when trying to obtain an insurance policy (fire, hazard) on a house that they just bought at trustee sale? Do insurance companies back off on foreclosures bought by 3rd parties? Thanks in advance.

depends on the agent. Assuming you refer to SFR. My State Farm agent only insures

- owner occupied
or
- renter occupied and I have to show a rental contract within 30 days

The agent understands the nature of the situation and tells me State Farm cannot do it.

But if you ask enough agents, you will find someone who does it.
