Re: Buying a house with lis pendensIn Reply to: Buying a house with lis pendens posted by Nikki on January 21, 2010 at 10:06 AM #1 - you'd be wise to go to the applicable courthouse or make similar arrangements to pull copies of the lawsuit. Get legal advise from a lawyer not a free forum, and determine if this lawsuit will/could have an adverse impact on your ability to acquire and enjoy the benefits of owning this property. #2 - Yes, you could get saddled with a mess! We don't know who's involved in the lawsuit; that's part of your job to find out. If you are not a Pro and have a tolerance for this kind of risk, there are lots of other fish in the sea. Also, unless you plan on coming up with your own source of (non-bank) funding, understand that all lenders will run away from your deal faster than you can say: "don't waste our time."
