prelims, etc.

In Reply to: Show me a link where any Title company has been fined for giving access to data? posted by JK (the other JK) on June 25, 2009 at 3:58 PM

Make a profile or prelim request this week and find out how it's working in the title/and escrow. Prelims are also a problem because title companies are prohibited from providing any free services. So they now have to show that all title prelims and searches were paid for, either as part of an escrow or a paid invoice. If you haven't done business with a title company in awhile, you will be amazed at how different things are. Title reps are still trying to go to bat for their customers, but their legal depts are setting the rules.

: : You should not have had your profiles pulled. Many of their

: : they will still do a farm if we call it in. Go figure! I read an

: : $25k and could not write a policy for 30 days for violating the bill.

: It's all public information -- just like prelims. How is pulling a title profile and local comps any different than providing a preliminary title report? I think that is hugely different than giving gifts, buying dinners, etc. or providing compensation.
