I agree with your analogy. I don't "flip" properties so it is not an issue for me. In my neck of the woods seasoning is not an issue with many small town banks and at least the credit union I'm familiar with because they are TRUE PORTFOLIO LENDERS as defined by me.
With the current banking/mortgage environment the larger banks in my area have really tightened the screws down on borrowers. Why... because they are not TPL's. Yes, even the small town banks that are TPL's have tightened up somewhat but not to the extent of the larger ones. I'm just saying that if you can work with a TPL seasoning is generally not an issue.
