My comments aren't intended for you, but the board in general. I think most RE wannabes idolize far too much and too many of the so-called RE gurus. Everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time and nobody in real life gets dressed in a phone booth (I'm dating myself here). Some are better marketers, most are very focused, and many have oversized egos which is a common trait among successful people in any profession. It's their money and if people need seminars to motivate or make themselves feel better then so be it, but let's not make the so-called gurus something they're not. We have enough of that in sports, politics, and the entertainment fields. One poster wrote that $800,000 made during the dot com bubble was luck. For most people any profits made during the RE bubble were mostly that and good timing. Most of the gurus (some despite what they say) didn't see the bubble bursting soon enough or how deep the deleveraging would become. My point is don't rely on any so-called expert to guide your financial decisions. Make yourself an expert and ultimately your own decisions. Become an independent thinker (called a contrarian on Wall Street), and don't follow the crowd. When you make a mistake, admit it and move on. You'll be much happier and more successful. Ninety percent of the postings of distressed borrowers on this and other boards blame everybody but themselves for their problems. We're all ultimately responsible for own decisions in life - both good and bad. Follow Ups: Amen to that Sermon!
