Skimmer ... i will show my ignorance here ... what is a 'copycat' bidder?

is he someone that will only bid is someone else is bidding???

is he not doing research and just bidding a small amount over the other people figuring that they will know when to stop?

you are right that ward says do your homework and if you are the only bidder ... well then that is terrific!

it is a great feeling to get a great deal while others dont show or dont bid ...

: The other day I read on a foreclosure forum website. One person asks to recommend a foreclosure trustee sale trainer. Another person replied with three names: Ward Hanigan, Bruce Norris and another one Larry Blachman.

: I am Ward’s graduate, and also listened to Bruce Norris’s seminars several times. But I never heard Larry Blachman. So I decided to buy his training book “Buying Foreclosure at Trustee’s Sales” to see what I may miss.

: Oh, man, here is exact what he mentions in his book:

: “I came up with one of my personal guidelines for surviving and succeeding in the real world of foreclosures. If you ever go to a trustee’s sale, and you are the only one there to bid on the property, seriously consider not bidding.” “Even if a lot of people qualify to bid, never be the first to bid.”

: This sounds totally different from what Ward taught us. Ward taught us how to evaluate deals, and confidently bid them even you are the only bidder. My county’s number one trustee sale buyer buys lots of houses for only one penny over opening bid since not other people can see the deals.

: Looks like this “copycat’ is Larry Blachman’s best student.

:
: : : There is one "copycat" at trustee sale. He always waits for 3 or 4 pros start to bid each others before he jumps in. All pros hate him, but couldn't find a way to teach him a lesson. I was told that this guy has been doing this for 10 year in my county. He doesn't get great deals, since he never be the first one to know the deal. But he bids up and gets lots of deals. I researched the houses he bought, and found he is doing well. In 2008, he makes money on all houses (about 10+) except one loser.

: : : What can we do to this guy??? Any good ideas?

: : : Skimmer

: : If the "copycat" has been doing this successfully for 10 years, I would say he is very much a pro.

: : I'd congatulate him on his successful strategy.

: : Dond
