Re: Not of public recordIn Reply to: Not of public record posted by Bob (CA.LA) on May 16, 2009 at 8:57 AM The tax is and always has been public record. The form for exemption makes it so the tax doesn't appear on the face of the deed. Since so many investors fill out that form, I was wondering when the data providers would make checking the behind the counter book part of the data. I doubt that property transfer taxes paid can ever be made private info. It's not the county's job to worry about if the purchase price is extrapolated, but rather to charge the necessary fees. I've spent some time in line at the recorders getting that info in that non-disclosure book, so I'll be happy to see more date provided by the services. As for privacy? Oh well. Transparency has it's pros and cons. Kristine : Ward, : Recently, data providers are publishing the amount paid of homes that were previously private due to the use of the sales price exemption from public record form. The form states that it can be used by law to exempt the sales price from being made public howeever it is no longer working. Do you know what has changed. Are dataquick and others violating the law by publishing the info when it clearly states on the deed that sales price is not of public record. : This change has been present for only the last month or so. Thank you. :
