The reporting/journalism on this story is so typical of RE reporting. It's all hype and sensation, but no understanding of the real questions. For example, did the new owner purchase via escrow with title insurance. All kinds of language in the article that shows no understanding of RE transactions in CA. With so much RE in the news the last few years, you'd think the papers could put someone on the job who knows what to research and what to look for. The LA times featured a deadbeat landlord story on the front page of last Sunday's paper, but had nothing but stories and precious little documentation about the inspections and court hearings involved.
