: I subscribed to realtytrac.com and have found a property in the bay area that I am interested in.

: The Auction date has been set for May 1st week, but the property is on MLS as well.

: Is that normal?

: Is it better to put an offer to the listing agent rather than wait for the auction.

Only you can decide which is the best way to go, but if the auction isn't cheaper by a huge amount, why consider the auction at all?

If the posted sale date is in the week of May 1, the actual sale date may be weeks or months later, or never. I'd suggest you forget about this deal and take some time to educate youurself.
