When large institutional lenders do this exact thing its in the best interest of the economy, when a homeowner suggests its in the best interest of his economy many feel he's less than honorable.
(The Countrywide guys even more so, they take millions in severance from BofA, walk and buy discounted notes after being major players in generating the problem, that's capitolism!)
Why the double standard?
Tim throw another log on the pile and get into a lease option with an REO investor. You get a home at a good value, the investor makes $$, toxic debt is removed from the books, and one more grain of sand is put in the hourglass.
