Support Order - Odd Case Question

Posted by Mark H. on April 03, 2009 at 9:32 AM

I have read most of the prior posts on support orders. I confess, I am still confused by a basic question.

CASE I

Jack has two support orders against him by Sally in 95 and 97.
Jack then buys a house on a loan, the loan being AFTER the two support orders were issued.

If I had bought the house in foreclosure, would I have to clear any arrears owed the two support orders? Does the support order attach to the real property or the person?

CASE II

This case is identical to CASE I EXCEPT Sally has also signed the new house loan as a joint tenant.

I passed on a house because it seemed too strange - Sally lived at a seperate address, had support orders against Jack, then a month after the last support order co-signed a loan for a new house with Jack.
