Posted by jnn on April 01, 2009 at 11:06 AM Rick - I've got a probate-type question and wanted your thoughts please: I found a house in Sacramento that's in default - NOD recorded two months ago. I talked to a neighbor who said that the owner/trustor died about a year ago and had no heirs, so the State has taken over her personal property and the house and has been doing some upkeep - mostly yard and pool maintenance. There appears to be quite a bit of equity. What is the effect of an owner who dies without heirs and the property escheats to State?
