Re: Real Estate Agents make poor short sale negotiatorsIn Reply to: Re: Real Estate Agents make poor short sale negotiators posted by Rachel on April 16, 2008 at 4:37 PM In my opinion, to negotiate effectively, one should be a disinterested third party, which a real estate agent in the deal is decidedly not. Also, if they're spending much of their day on hold--wait times of up to 1.5 hours are not uncommon--how are they able to get other listings and otherwise move the ball down the field? I know a realtor who has 25 short sales in his pipeline. He gave up; he couldn't possibly process them AND attend to his other tasks as a real estate agent. One could hire someone at an hourly rate, of course--and some realtors do--to handle the clerical aspects (calling, time on hold, packaging, faxing, etc.) of short sales.
