How many homeowners accept responsibility for their own mistakes. Very few. You can count them on one hand on this board. That's human nature. In a similar vein I notice that wannabe investors and/or their realtors always castigate lenders or sellers if they didn't accept their offer, because they made a great offer. Apparently it wasn't good enough. Maybe they were just bottom fishers. The (fill in the blank) has to be crazy for turning down their offer. Sellers want the most for their property and buyers want to pay as little as possible. That's what makes markets. The old realtor adage prevails: Buyers are liars and sellers are yellers. Investors/buyers/realtors look at things only from their perspective and/or don't understand all (or care about) the other issues involved. I was in (full) commission sales for about 8-9 years. It was always the unsuccessful or marginal sales person who cried around about losing this or that sale. You never heard the top producers crying around because they were too busy working on other deals. Same holds true with investors. It's only the wannabe or marginal investor who cries around. Posters don't hear you or the other succesful investors complaining about this perceived slight or rejection of an offer. The successful ones have other deals brewing and simply move on. One last comment from a previous post of yours noting that you started in the business at age 23. Wow! I take my hat to you. You've done what not 1 in a 100 could do, who even had the nerve to start in the business.No way could I have survived in the business at age 23, 33, or maybe even 43. I've worked in loans & RE for close to 25 years and there's still plenty of stuff that I don't know. Knowledge is power and as you preach one needs educate oneself. I didn't have the money, maturity, negotiating skills, business or enough RE knowledge. Last to come was the RE knowledge. Of course when you self-employed or on commissions it always helps to have a spouse who has a salary and access to health insurance.
