Hi Rick - My point exactly, but I guess I didn't come right out and
say it. There is, in fact, caselaw in CA that indicates municipal liens for abating code violations
can be "super priority" liens, under certain circumstances.

Had this exact issue pop up for a foreclosing lender client a few months back, who ended up
foreclosing into a real nightmare on an LA city quadplex (rent control, REAP, toxic mold,
lead based paint, etc.). Can't remember the exact caselaw off-hand, unfortunately.

But, I do remember that the devil is in the details. Depends on the facts.
