trust and privacy

Posted by hard money lender on October 23, 2006 at 6:25 PM

if a person wants to hide their assets, i am assuming that the entity trying to find said person's assets, has an ability to do some sort of computer search on a real estate data base. is this true ?

assuming it is, does the program look at the current owner, or is the program also able to look backwards through all the title transfers ?

the main reason i am asking is to find out whether it is any benefit to place a property that was in your name in the trust.

i am well versed on the other advantages of a living trust, but does placing a property once in your name into a trust, have any effect on another entity's ability to find it ? or must you place it in the trust at first acquistion, in order to hide it ?

i am aware that the property is placed with a trustee, other than yourself, so that your name is nowhere on the title.

thanks.
