I guess in today's world it ain't such a far fetched idea to take the $$ and run.

Seems I remember back in 1988 there was a large article in the LA Times about a trustee company that "sold" a property for xxx amount and someone got beat out.

That someone waited until the trustee deed was recorded and it was for yyy amount to someone other than the "supposed original buyer."

Do not know the outcome.
